The Diocese of South Carolina will hold its 224th Annual Convention in Charleston, March 13-14. Nearly 400 clergy and delegates representing 53 churches across the eastern and coastal part of South Carolina will participate.
“We have so much to celebrate as a diocese,” said the Rt. Rev. Mark Lawrence, 14th Bishop of the Diocese. “Coming together at the Convention gives time to express our gratefulness to God, celebrate the life and growth in our congregations and move forward in spreading the Gospel and shaping Anglicanism in the 21st century.”

‘Lemonade on the lawn’ – sounds most refreshing. Is that a Southern thing?

Pageant master, I looked at the schedule to answer your question. Given the time for “Lemonade on the Lawn”, I am guessing this is a time for fellowship and some liquid refreshment (mostly likely it really will be lemonade) before the convention Eucharist. It must be a “southern thing” as I know parishes that have such named fellowship times after their last service.
Anyway, given that many people will be at the workshops who may not be delegates (and hence not coming to the convention the next day), it is a great opportunity for many people from different parishes to meet and have time for fellowship. I am not sure how to describe it but our diocesan convention often has the *feel* of a very large yet warm family reunion of a couple hundred distant relatives who get to see one another once a year.
We have lemonade on the lawn at my parish in Pittsburgh albeit from Memorial Day to October 15 otherwise it’s coffee hour inside. Please know prayers will offered especially for your workshop Kendall.
AH, yes #3 I realize that “lemonade on the Lawn is basically a coffee hour. Anyway, I had no idea that it took place above the Mason-Dixon line. I am from Indiana and never heard of “LotL” until I moved south. Anyway, fellowship, coffee hour, lemonade on the lawn or whatever you want to call it, I expect a good time will be had by all on Friday after the conclusion of the workshops and before the Eucharist at the Cathedral.
#4 I am not sure where I first heard of LotL. As for Kendall and Bp Mark’s workshop it’s hard to predict what the future will bring for the Dio of SC but the ACNA could sure benefit from your leadership within it.
